Ford Granada 2.9 V6

Steve Marshall treated himself to this fully loaded Scorpio model Granada.

The car is in suberb condition and Steve loves it, understandable as it drives like a magic carpet and has all the bells and whistles associated with the top of any manufacturer's output. The only shortcoming was the cost of running it - Steve asked us if we could re-educate it. The converted car's performance on LPG is very good. It is very hard to tell which fuel the engine is running on. Only the day to day thickness of the owner's wallet gives a clue.....

Steve's beautiful Scorpio.

Its only fault was its thirst for 's!

Although many have been converted in the past using older type single point conversions, they save little money, using a lot of gas. After talking with Steve we decided that only the latest SGi equipment would be up to the job.

We mounted a 60 litre spare wheel tank in the boot well and used this later type of fixed bayonet filler to avoid cutting holes in the body.

The filler is neatly mounted, the square black cover hides the fixed filler and keeps it dust free.

Your Granada 2.9........

This conversion was unusual right from the beginning.

Although we know a lot of people in the trade, we couldn't find a single person that had previously converted this engine using SGi, presumably because the car is seen as older and of low value when put against the cost of conversion.

Steve knew better, deciding that the value of any car is pretty well immaterial, what it costs the owner to run is often much higher than the cost of buying it and converting it. The car would return mileages in the low 20's to the gallon on petrol, making is quite expensive to run. Now he tells us he gets the equivalent of 48mpg on gas and over Easter 2005 he covered 450 miles on 30 worth of LPG.

Not bad, not bad AT ALL!

Now some facts - The reasoning behind our choice of SGi conversion equipment is fully explained in the item 'What type of conversion is best for my car?'

All owners with SGi conversions report savings in fuel cost of at least 50%, some above that if driven carefully. It is very hard to tell when the car is running on gas as performance is practically identical to that of Petrol.

This conversion takes 5 days to complete (including up to 100 miles of fuel mapping and road testing) at a cost of 1900 fully inclusive.

We give 12 months parts and labour warranty and issue an insurance certificate with every conversion.
